Faze-O - Breakin' The Funk (1979)
A Chicago funk quintet who had some unexceptional singles for She in 1978 and 1979. Keyboardist Keith "Chop Chop" Harrison, guitarist Ralph "Love" Aikens, bassist Tyrone "Flye" Crum, drummer Roger "Dodger" Parker, and percussionist Robert "Bip" Neal, Jr. landed a Top 10 single right out of the box with "Riding High" in 1978. The next release, "Good Thang," missed the Top 40, and "Breakin' The Funk" barely charted. After that, Faze-O was soon gonzo. (Courtesy of last.fm)
BTF was released on She Records.

Marvin Gaye - In Our Lifetime (1981)

One of Gaye's funkiest albums coming at you all the way from 1981. Marvin was responsible for writing, producing, arranging, and mixing all the songs himself. One of my favorite post-Motown albums from MG. IOL was an exit of his previous disco offerings and more of a branch out type of effort.

Bloodstone - Riddle Of The Sphinx (1975)
Bloodstone offers a bit of everything, doo-wop, funk, soul, and a sprinkle of Hendrix. Originally formed as a doo-wop quintet, this Kansas City band of brothers hit the scene in 1962. A decade later, 1972 saw their self-titled album, Bloodstone blow up the charts.
Riddle Of The Sphinx has a "pharaoh feel" to it as the cover artwork may suggest. Great tunes from the boys!
This LP is from my collection and another steal at 33 cents from a garage sale.

Caldera - Sky Islands (1977)
One of my favorite jazz fusion groups, Caldera. A Latin band that that created a hybrid sound of jazz, funk and rock with a Latin music vibe. Fans of jazz fusionists Return to Forever and Weather Report will adore this Brazilian band. The members were influenced by everything from Earth, Wind & Fire's soul/funk to Afro-Cuban salsa, Brazilian samba and Andean/Peruvian music. (Courtesy of Wikipedia)
Tracklisting:
1. Sky Islands
2. Ancient Source
3. It Used To Be True
4. Pegasus
5. Carnavalito
6. Seraphim
7. Indigo Fire
